hi! My name is Lucy and I’m a Salvadoran-American from South San Francisco (YAY Area!). After years of startup and marketing experience, I found myself where no one wants to find themselves: a networking event. At this event, a stranger (hi remi!!!!) was vulnerable enough to share that she was having a difficult time finding beautiful shoes in a size US women’s 12. I realized that this concern was familiar, and had been echoed in intimate conversations with my close friends for years.
I started LoQueSea (loh-keh-seh-ah) to make it more accessible for my friendz to find a beautiful pair of shoes in the size range of 40-45 EU (US women’s 10-15 & US men's 8.5-13.5). After months of research, surveys, and conversations with BIPOC people and trans women, I was inspired to build this company not only to offer my solidarity with this community, but to contribute to already existing conversations about who is accounted for in design and how they’re represented in the fashion world.
As a youngster at Columbia University, I was afforded the experience to study social and political issues related to colonization, intersectionality, and sustainable development and how they define our sense of self and community. I use what I learned as a lens to guide this company and its values. For me, LoQueSea is a collective project, one that I hope will grow in new, unexpected, and diverse ways.
